Two Noras: 1915 and 2023

My  paternal grandmother, Nora, was a great recorder of daily events. I have her daily notes from 1913, 1914, 1915, 1916, 1918, 1919, 192...

Two Noras: July 5, 1914 and July 5, 2021

Nora Bauer: Sunday, July 5, 1914

Irma was over for dinner today and we went to Church. Then I took her home. Chris and Anna drove in this evening and we had ice cream together.

Nora Spitznogle: Monday, July 5, 2021

I'm grateful for the extra day off, much needed. Puttered around the house and scrubbed the bookcase Dad gave me on Race Day and it fits perfectly in my kitchen.

I did a broad search for to see if Grandma Nora and and Irma were mentioned together in the paper, and didn't come up with anything. I wonder what taking her home from church entailed? I'm also flummoxed by who Chris and Anna might be. Her sister Anna was still living at home and she may have already been dating her eventual husband, Carl Gingrich, by then.

I had a much needed day at home. I probably should have mowed the grass or done something productive, instead I took random naps - I'm still having trouble falling asleep, if I close my eyes Dad's death seems more real. I snuggled with Tilly Cat, and scrubbed a bookcase that had been in the basement at the Farm. Dad thought it was my childhood bookcase and it looks familiar.

My living space is small - 750 square feet - but perfect for me. The bookcase fits under the window in my kitchen - now my Pyrex collection can be seen along with the Blatz figures from Nancy's.

At least I got one thing accomplished today.
