Two Noras: 1915 and 2023

My  paternal grandmother, Nora, was a great recorder of daily events. I have her daily notes from 1913, 1914, 1915, 1916, 1918, 1919, 192...

Two Noras: May 8, 1914 and May 8, 2021

Nora Bauer: Friday, May 8, 1914

Rained again today. The Wabash river has raised quite a bit. Anna and I got a box of candy from John Tietjen today.

Nora Spitznogle: Saturday, May 8, 2021

As much as I enjoyed my trip, it was nice to wake up in my own bed. Worked at
Red Key this evening.

It seems that John Tiejen was a carpenter...and knew the way to the Bauer sisters heart - candy. I'm guessing that he worked with/for their employees, Barnes Construction.

I'm sure that the whole town was keeping a keen eye on the rivers after the great flood of the year before.

I went to the plant sale at the Indiana School for the Blind - I can wait to put stuff in the ground, but I make myself wait until May 15, when the danger of freeze is over. I also popped into Marigold and to the grocery store to restock my refrigerator.

Work at the Red Key was blessedly uneventful.
