Two Noras: 1915 and 2023

My  paternal grandmother, Nora, was a great recorder of daily events. I have her daily notes from 1913, 1914, 1915, 1916, 1918, 1919, 192...

Two Noras: September 13, 1914 and September 13, 2021

Nora Bauer: Sunday, September 13, 1914

Was to 7:30 and 10:00 o'clock Mass today. Helen M. came in this afternoon and went to Vespers. Louise was there too. Paul, Anna, Papa and I played cards this evening.

Nora Spitznogle: Monday, September 13, 2021

Started the day back at Saint Joan of Arc to meet our Second Helpings food rescue truck to pick up extra French Market food. On to work from there - nothing exciting.

I admire Grandma Nora's commitment to Mass. Helen Minneman must have been visiting from school.

The big news in this entry is that it's the first time that Nora has mentioned her papa! I wonder if he's around and she just doesn't mention it, or if he's working at his tavern a lot. The blue laws at the time would have meant that the Tavern would need to be closed on Sundays.

How fun to play cards with her beau, sister, and papa!

There was a fair amount of food left over from the French Market and they generously donated it to Second Helpings. On to work from there.
