Two Noras: 1915 and 2023

My  paternal grandmother, Nora, was a great recorder of daily events. I have her daily notes from 1913, 1914, 1915, 1916, 1918, 1919, 192...

Two Noras: May 12, 1914 and May 12, 2021

Nora Bauer: Tuesday, May 12, 1914

Was raining real hard all day today. The Eel river was very high. Uncle Val is awful bad sick.

Nora Spitznogle: Wednesday, May 12, 2021

Worked today. Went to WW after work. I can't believe that this is the last Wednesday in my fifties.

I'm sure the whole town was was on edge after the devastating flood of the year before. Two rivers - the Wabash and Eel - converge in Logansport. More worrisome is that her Uncle Valentine is so sick. You may remember that Valentine is Grandma Nora's paternal uncle, husband of Kate and father of Alphonse, Robert, Henry, Frank, and Sister Hyacinth (Beatrice).

I can't believe that I'll be SIXTY next Wednesday. I don't feel sixty, although I'm not sure what that is supposed to feel like.....
