Two Noras: 1915 and 2023

My  paternal grandmother, Nora, was a great recorder of daily events. I have her daily notes from 1913, 1914, 1915, 1916, 1918, 1919, 192...

Two Noras: May 10, 1914 and May 10, 2021

Nora Bauer: Sunday, May 10, 1914

Gertrude and I went out after flowers this afternoon. We got a big bunch. Paul and I and Gertrude went out driving tonight.

Nora Spitznogle: Monday, May 10, 2021

Back to work - the vacation is over, as evidenced by the 8:30 budget planning meeting. Every-other-Monday dinner with Kassie and Schaun.

I wonder if Grandma Nora and her little sister were gathering flowers for their mama? 1914 was the first official Mother's Day. On May 8, 1914, the U.S. Congress passed a law designating the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day and requesting a proclamation. The next day, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation declaring the first national Mother's Day.

I jumped right back into work with budgeting and plenty of meetings. I had dinner with Kassie and Schaun at Half Liter.
