Two Noras: January 5, 1914 and January 5, 2021

Nora Bauer: Monday, January 5, 1914

Was uptown this afternoon and up to the post office. Was also into Wiler's after floss for Anna [sister]. Worked a little on my centerpiece tonight!

Nora Spitznogle: Monday, January 5, 2021

I was the early person at work today and arrived before 7:00 this morning and worked until 5:30. Straight home for laundry and turkey chili.

I had a hard time deciphering the name of the store that Grandma Nora picked up the embroidery floss for her sister. I searched newspapers.com for the 1910s Logansport Pharos-Tribune for what I thought she wrote and nothing came up. I  finally searched "floss" and found the store. I wonder what Anna was making? And what is this centerpiece for? She was clearly excited enough to use her first exclamation point of the year!

With the current spike of positive cases in the pandemic I'm trying to stay at home as much as possible. I tried to leave work around 4:00 so I could pick up my coat at the dry cleaner, but that was the most exciting thing that I had planned for this evening. I did a round of laundry and heated up some of my homemade turkey chili for dinner. How's that for living large?
