Two Noras: January 7, 1914 and January 7, 2021

Nora Bauer: Wednesday, January 7, 1914

Carl Gingrich was down to the office this afternoon. Came home with the headache tonight. Therefore went to bed early.

Nora Spitznogle: Thursday, January 7, 2021

Another full day at Second Helpings. Chatted on the phone with Mom on my way home. Quiet evening at home.

Anna Bauer

Carl would marry Grandma Nora's sister, Anna, in 1921. I'm getting my money's worth from my Ancestry.com membership!

I'm enjoying finding the connections to names that I've heard my whole life. I always thought that the Gingrich's were connected to my Mom's side of the family, as I heard my Grandma Leona speak of them fondly - I'm loving all of the connections.

I'm still working on figuring out where Grandma Nora was working. I found an announcement in the August 4, 1913 paper that she was leaving her position at Bligh Lumber & Coal company.

I'm in my 15th year of working at Second Helpings and love it. Last year (2020) certainly brought many changes and the pace of the work day picked up. Not that there is any place to go during the pandemic, but I'm not sure that I'd have the energy.

Once again, I'm showered and in bed with the cat (Tilly), a book (Code Name Helene) and a bowl of popcorn by 8:30 in the evening. I tossed and turned and flipped the news on and off last night - I'm hoping for a sound sleep tonight.
